One thing I love just as much as fonts are DINGBATS!!!

What are dingbats?! Most of you know, but in case you don’t they are pretty much a font that has symbols and shapes in the position designated for alphabetical or numerical characters.

SO, if you are using a dingbat that is filled with heart symbols and type the letter “A” there should be a heart symbol for that letter. And if you type in “B”, there should be another heart symbol.

Most font websites have dingbats to download as well. My favorite place to go is dafont.com. LOVE their fonts and dingbats.

SO, what do you use these dingbats for?? I use them in so many of my printables and designs. Most are free to use for NON-COMMERCIAL stuff, but you can also download and pay for ones that you plan on using for commercial purposes.

So, for example, this is free for personal and non-profit use and $5 for commercial. Pretty cheap for some cute designs!!

Also, when you go to download the dingbat it will show you what symbols are available as well as the equivalence for each letter key.

A =Flower, B = Another flower, etc.

So, for this particular dingbat there are symbol for all upper-case and lower-case letters from A-M, and that’s it. Sometimes there will be even fewer symbols, and sometimes there will be symbols for all the letters as well as numbers and punctuation marks.

I use dingbats in PaintShop Pro for my Round-Up graphics:

Is this making sense?? I hope so!

Name of the Dingbat

Symbols in Aa Bb Cc Dd structure. So, for 2 pease GG Loves Me, A = Heart, a = 2 Peas in a Bucket symbol, B = heart, and so on. If the symbol is there twice in a row it means that the same graphic is used for “A” and “a.”

SO AWESOME, right?! And we haven’t even touched the surface. So many great ones to get for free (and even more that you can buy!!)

I had so many favorites I am doing one more segment tomorrow with 20 more dingbats to fall in love with!

You guys all know my obsession with FONTS and DINGBATS…

Well, I have another collection to share with you today, but this time they are FREE Valentines Fonts and Dingbats, and I think you’re going to LOVE them. I have scoured the web looking for my favorites and cannot wait to share them with you today.

I know in the past, some readers have had problems installing these on your computer. If you have problems I recommend doing a google search for your computer on how to install fonts. I know MACs and PCs vary greatly and I know sometimes it’s just a matter of downloading, opening, extracting and installing the font or sometimes you have to go into your Control Panel to get them. Ever computer is different, but I promise once you learn you’ll love it. For me, it is so much fun to have a variety of great fonts and dingbats to use, and they will help with Graphic Designs or anything cute you are trying to make – PROMISE. Also, for those who do not know what a Dingbat is, it’s a practically a font that has images/graphics (instead of letters) associated with the alphabet. So, for example in one Dingbat you make type A and a HEART shows up, you type B and a KISS graphic shows up. If you’re still confused you can go to this post I did HERE to help out.

Eek! Today I am so excited to share with you guys something I just found yesterday.

So, if you’ve been to my site before you know I have a slight addiction to fonts and dingbats. I LOVE finding great new fonts and dingbats that are free and super cute. Well, yesterday, I was able to do find another one that I couldn’t wait to share with you. This next dingbat is one that will be SO cute and so handy on so many graphics, printables and more. I use these dingbats EVERY DAY when I’m making printables or when I’m adding things to my pictures or collages. They are so handy and so fun to use, and they’re even more fun when you can get them for free.

I figure several of you are probably making printables and other fun graphics with St. Patrick’s Day in mind so I wanted to share with you my favorite St Patricks Day Fonts and Graphics today to help with those.

You guys all know about my slight addiction to fonts.

I realized it was pretty bad a few years back when I was driving in the car with my family and we passed a neighborhood and I recognized the font in the signage. I thought “That’s Bleeding Cowboys (a font).” I told the hubby and he replied “What?” I said, “The font for that neigborhood entrance is Bleeding Cowboys.” He just looked at me like I was crazy and started laughing. He said I download too many fonts. LOL! Perhaps he’s right, but the bottom line is that I LOVE them. They are just so pretty.

Then there is my addiction to dingbats. Those are graphics that correlate to letters in the alphabet. I think I may love those even more. I used them for all my printables and designs, and I LOVE them. They make my job a lot easier.

I’m here today to share some more of my favorite free frames and graphics. I shared with the KG Flavor and Frames back in February from Kimberly Geswein (I love ALL her fonts and dings). She came out with a second set that I told you about in June. Now she’s released a third and fourth set to the KG Flavor and Frames that I’m sharing with you today…

I’m telling you – the possibilities are endless! I use them a ton on my images too, like:

This was the White Chocolate Reeses Fudge Lily made for her first post. I added the ding associated with the letter “V” (the tan shape) from the KG Flavor and Frames Four Font in Picasa and then added the text to it. EASY!

And I used the letter “p” from the KG Flavor and Frames Three font to make the prints for the UH-MASON gift ideas:

I just opened up a new image in Paintshop Pro, added that ding, made it red, and then added the text. Another easy use.

If you haven’t started using dingbats to spruce up your prints and graphics, you should! They are so fun and so helpful!!

If you’re a font addict like me, you’ve often found yourself on sites like fontspace.com or dafont.com for hours at a time. Maybe you’re not as bad as me and think I’m just plain crazy. The fact is I need help for my font addiction.

PROOF: When a computer or laptop breaks, most people’s first thought is: “Oh man, I don’t want to spend the money buying a new computer.” My first thought, “Oh man, I’m going to have to download and install ALL my fonts all over again!!” Haha.

Yes, I’m pathetic at times.

I’ve officially switched gears from St. Patrick’s Day to Easter. Yes, I’m done with all the green and mint treats and have been thinking of this great time of year when things start to get warm and thoughts of flowers and playing outside sounds more enjoyable.
